About Goober

Allow us to introduce our pal Goober, who hails from the Louisville, Kentucky area.

In his own words…

Hi, I’m Goober.  I am a 3-4 year old husky mix from Louisville, Kentucky. I had a family once, but in December of last year, right before Christmas when it was really cold in KY, they dumped me at the back of Shawnee Park. I was seen wandering around scavenging for food for more than a week. I ate mulch to try and fill my belly, and slept on the top of that mulch pile to try and keep warm. Finally, a nice animal shelter volunteer came and rescued me. Unfortunately, this lady couldn’t keep me, so I spent months at an overcrowded shelter in Louisville. The day came when I was told my time was up— the shelter was too too full and they needed space. I was spending what was supposed to be my last hour on earth in the yard with the volunteers. Just in the nick of time, I was told a nice couple called and said they would take me in and that they would find me a forever home themselves.  They have helped me get to Grammy Rose, and now I’m ready for my forever home, so let me tell you about all of my amazing qualities!!

-I need a home where I am the apple of my people’s eye (so no other pets or children).  I am a total goofball and LOVE to play and do zoomies (professional level A+ zoomies in the yard).  I also LOVE to snuggle and watch movies, take naps, and give kisses!!!  I LOVE car rides.  I am crate trained,  and I know “sit” and “place”.  I am super smart and love doing training! I am muzzle and e-collar trained, and I only go potty outside. I am neutered and up to date on all of my shots. Most importantly, I am incredibly loyal and want nothing more than to be by your side and make you happy.  My life has not always been a piece of cake, but my foster mommy says I am a “sweetie pie.” I promise I will make you laugh and smile every single day.  I cannot wait to meet my forever family and settle down in Maine!

If you’d like to meet Goober any of our adoptable dogs, we strongly recommend that serious adopters complete our online adoption application in advance of your call or visit so that we have your information in hand, and so that if it all goes well, we can expedite your adoption.  It also gives us an opportunity to get to know a little about your home and lifestyle, which in turn helps us make the best match possible for the deserving dogs we rescue and match with great New England adopters.  When you’re ready to make your appointment, please call us at 1-844-DOG-LIFE (844-364-5433).
