Today is a special day—but let’s start from the beginning. Many of you will recognize Bailee. She was with us at Grammy Rose for a long time, and every day, we hoped for the perfect family to take her home. We waited, loved her, and cheered her on—especially the staff and volunteers she trusted most, including Barb.
Then, one day, a kind woman stopped by the shelter. She hadn’t come to meet Bailee, but once she heard about her, asked if it was possible. Barb went to get Bailee, and the magic happened right before our eyes.
Shy Bailee was instantly drawn to this woman, who knew exactly how to approach a nervous dog—giving her space, avoiding direct eye contact, and letting Bailee take the lead. She was so interested. They went for a walk, and when Barb handed over the leash, Bailee kept walking like she had known her forever.
Then came the big moment—the woman had a dog in the car. Could they meet? We all held our breath. But the second Bailee saw him, something clicked. He looked so much like the buddy she once had, and she was in love. And then, in a moment that left us speechless—when this woman and her dog packed up to leave, Bailee jumped right into their car, ready to go home with them. She stayed a few more days at Grammy Rose while introductions continued, and a home visit confirmed what we already felt we knew—this was meant to be. She took right to it like she knew belonged there!
Now, Bailee is thriving on her farm with her new dog brother Bear, her chickens, horses, goats, and even a pig named Zephyr. Barb and Amber have been back to visit her at her home — on 70 acres down a quiet dirt road — and it’s safe to say she has found her happy place. And that brings us to today, January 29 — a date her new family immediately recognized while reviewing her adoption paperwork:
Bailee and her new mom share the same birthday.
So today, we celebrate Bailee and her mom with the happiest of birthday wishes. Their story is proof that dreams do come true, and the right home is always worth the wait. Never give up. Always lead with love, hope, and the belief that the paw-fect forever is out there.
